Roxanne's Year In Review...

I can not believe over a year has passed since my last blog? An entire year! There must be some truth in that old saying, the older you get, the quicker it goes?

Therefore I decided to do a very quick summary of the year that was, in the life of me :)

Before doing so, I officially state my New Years resolution, albeit a few days late, that I will blog away at least once a month for what I hope will be an eventful 2011!

So 2010...

My beautful niece, Aniek Patricia Martha, entered this big bad world on none other than Valentines Day. Watching her grow, and just get cuter and smarter and cuter everyday since, has been pure delight.

Early on in the year I went to see the amazing George Michael at the SFS with my great friend, Paul. I was surprised at just how fantastic he was live (George that is!).

I also volunteered for the McGrath Foundation at Rosehill Races. What an extraordinary day and a wonderful cause. I sometimes forget just how generous people really can be. And how drunk people actually get, particularly when you are the sober one wandering around for a change! Thank god for the members area!

Also on the 2010 agenda was a trip to Canyonleigh to visit a special little family before they headed off in their big red bus for an epic trip around this amazing country of ours. It was both a fun, and a bit of an emotional visit. At least Dave was a hit with the kiddies as always to keep things amusing!

We also celebrated the first birthday of my cousins first born, gorgeous little Quinn. Such a boy! It's a rare occassion these days that we get to catch up with some of my lovely family, which made it all the sweeter.

With every birth, there always seems to be a death in my family. We lost my wonderful, funny, interesting, and very entertaining Pop this year. He is thought of and missed every day. I am so glad I got to spend some quality time with him before it was his time to leave us...

I was made redundant from my job of just over five years. Possibly the best thing that happened to me in 2010! A wish that came true, and has been such a positive turning point in so many ways since. Following was a fantastic 3 1/2 months off which was exactly what this lady of leisure needed, and loved, loved, loved. Bliss!

Immediately following my redundancy, it was time for Christmas in July at the Hunter Valley. Great house, great food and wine, great secret santa (and Santa), and of course great company.

Richard Ashcroft at the Enmore. Genius. Need I say more.

A spontaneous trip to the snow. Perisher to be precise. Lots of snow, bluebird days, mulled wine, sauna's and great company - including a reunion with one of my fave flatties from Canada! Even with a fractured rib and an injured leg, this was still an awsome getaway :)

Brekkie on the Harbour Bridge. Awsome morning with a champagne brekky, a massive thunderstorm and many laughs. Not quite the million dollar lottery, but a great lottery to win all the same. Well a good friend actually winning this lottery got us to this new and very popular event. Was great to be able to be part of it all!

Twenty year school reunion. Yes, TWENTY YEARS! Sheesh!

Enjoyed some Harbour Island Hopping. A freakishly cold, wet, day for the time of year, but good fun all the same. Well kind of? How could it not be on the amazing Sydney harbour!??

Sculptures By The Sea...an annual Eastern burbs event, brilliant Spring day, and of course the sculptures. Amazing, ridiculous, quirky, boring and entertaining all rolled in to one. And of course you can not beat the stunning coastal walk of the Eastern Beaches. Why would you live anywhere else?!

An incredibly decadent lunch at Quay. The best dining experience to date on every level.

To top off the year, a rocktastic night was had with Bon Jovi at the SFS. I regressed straight back to my teens, the year 1987, when they very first toured Oz. Jon is as hot as hell today as he ever was!!! Loved it almost as much as that very first time :)

It was also the year of many brunches, lunches, drunkedness, beach time, trips to Melbourne, shopping, gym, catching up and hanging out with many great friends, and of course my family.

2010 ended, and in turn the new year was brought in, with a great little escape to Copacabana. Four days filled with food, wine, sun, sand, surf and good friends. It was the perfect way to end an era, and get ready for another.

If 2010 is anything to go by, 2011 should be pretty spectacular. Fingers crossed!!!
